Emotes bring personality, inside jokes, and subscriber perks to Blaze chat. Blaze includes a global emote set for every channel, and streamers can upload custom emotes for their own communities.
This guide explains the difference between Blaze and channel emotes, how to upload an emote, who can use it, and how viewers find emotes in chat.

Blaze Emotes vs. Channel Emotes

  • Blaze emotes: Global emotes available to everyone in every Blaze channel. They appear in the Blaze section of the emote picker.
  • Channel emotes: Custom emotes uploaded by a streamer. They appear in that streamer's channel section and can be available to everyone in the channel or to subscribers only.
Choosing Everyone for a channel emote does not make it global across Blaze. It makes the emote available to everyone chatting in your channel.

How to Upload a Channel Emote

  1. Log in to your Blaze account.
  2. Open your Streamer Dashboard.
  3. Select the new Emotes tab, or go directly to Streamer Dashboard → Emotes.
  4. Click Add emote.
  5. Drag and drop your image, or click Choose image.
  6. Enter a name for the emote.
  7. Under Who can use this emote?, choose Everyone or Subscribers only.
  8. Review the chat preview and click Create emote.
Once created, the emote is added to your channel's emote picker. A channel can have up to 60 emotes.

Image and Name Requirements

  • File format: PNG or GIF
  • Shape: Square
  • Dimensions: Up to 500 × 500 pixels
  • File size: Up to 1 MB
  • Name length: 2–32 characters
  • Names may contain only letters, numbers, and underscores.

Choose Who Can Use an Emote

Everyone

Anyone who can chat in your channel can use the emote. This is a public channel emote, not a platform-wide Blaze emote.

Subscribers Only

Only active subscribers to your channel can use the emote. Non-subscribers can see it with a lock in the picker, but selecting it prompts them to subscribe before they can use it.
Subscriber-only emotes are a simple way to add a recognizable community perk to your channel's subscription offering.

How Viewers Use Emotes in Chat

  1. Open a Blaze channel and go to chat.
  2. Click the smiley-face button beside the message box.
  3. Select the Emotes tab.
  4. Find an emote in the channel or Blaze section and select it to add it to the message.
Viewers can search emotes by name. Recently used emotes also appear in the Recent section for quick access.

Manage or Delete Channel Emotes

Open Streamer Dashboard → Emotes to review your emotes and their access badges. When you have a larger emote library, you can search by name or filter by Everyone and Subscribers only.
To remove an emote, open its three-dot menu and select Delete emote. Deletion cannot be undone, and the emote will no longer be available in chat.
To change an emote's image, name, or access setting, delete it and create it again with the new settings.

Quick Troubleshooting

  • The image will not upload: Confirm it is a square PNG or GIF, no larger than 500 × 500 pixels and 1 MB.
  • The name is rejected: Use 2–32 letters, numbers, or underscores with no spaces or symbols.
  • Add emote is unavailable: Your channel may have reached the 60-emote limit.
  • A viewer cannot use an emote: Check whether it is marked Subscribers only and whether the viewer has an active subscription.
